At Robertson Stykbow we take pleasure in our accomplishments. Our experience with bowhunting combined with our talent for wood mastery ensures you the best in traditional bowhunting equipment. Attention to detail is incorporated into every bow along the path of construction. We like knowing what goes into the creation of our bows. All of the laminations and veneers are handpicked, and grind on our own equipment to match our selective tastes prior to the glue process. The woods and materials are high graded and hand selected with a discriminatory eye for the most distinctive and unique grain patterns. This ensures that each individual bow possesses its own characteristics making each bow a unique, functional hunting weapon, and also an original piece of art.
The qualities of the finished product are a direct reflection of years of experience with trials and errors. Each bow model has undergone an evolution of design. Numerous bow forms have been used and replaced with improved versions. Experimentation with the amount and degree of tapers within limb laminations, percentages of wood to glass ratios, length of working limb compared to handle length, deflex to reflex ratios and numerous other bow design aspects all take time to develop and perfect. The proper tillering and alignment of limbs to work in unison with each other are paramount to ensure accuracy. The end result with the impute of draw length, physical and hunting characteristics of the customer leads to stable, forgiving, smooth drawing high performance bow customized to your specifications.
Handle shape and fit is the most crucial aspect of making a bow to shoot where you’re looking. Years of hunting and shooting the various bow designs, as well as impute from customers, has led to bow grips that make your bow an extension of your hand with arrow placement directly above and as close as possible. This aspect leads to consistency in shooting under differing degrees of bow cant and lends itself to proper arrow placement with your natural instinctive ability. The shape, size, wrist angle and amount of palm swell all are attributes that assist in proper hand placement shot after shot. Using our design the sight window and shelf are both crowned to a certain point for less contact and drag which makes arrow tuning easy and shooting errors are less magnified.
Care and attention to detail during the finishing process are given to each bow prior to final inspection. Several coats of a non-reflective, satin-catalyzed varnish are applied to fill the grain pores of the wood allowed to dry and then hand sanded. The inscriptions are then applied and several additional coats are applied to give the bow a natural durable glare free appearance to enhance the beauty of the woods beneath. After the finish hardening process is complete arrow plates, leather wraps and proper strings are applied. A nock point and silencers are also included. The completed bow is also furnished with a cloth bow case, bow stringer and instructions on the proper care and maintenance. Your bow is also backed by one of the best guarantees in the business.
