Target panic at the beginning of ’04 was so bad, and I have no idea where it came from, that if I was going to hit a deer, I had to make a change to a compound. At the end of the 2011 season I decided that as long as I was physically able I was going to shoot a longbow and the battle to overcome T.P. began. I traded my compound for a used longbow and went at it. I finally overcame the problem and you folks built me a bow this past summer. I’ve had more fun with this thing!

Way to go Kevin, thanks for your on-going support!

On Saturday morning, October 15, I snuck in the dark to my stand at the southwest corner of the property, next to the swampy “buck sanctuary” where the big boys hide out. At 7:45 he ambled out of the thick cover north of me, across the wind, and presented a shot at 12 yards. The broadhead took out his left lung and grazed his heart. He wheeled and went back up the trail he’d come down, got maybe 50 yards before piling up, a big bodied young buck. I waited 35 minutes before climbing down to find the back half of the homemade arrow and first blood 10 yards from the hit. Then went quietly to the cabin and came back with my brothers 2 hours later to get him from the swamp.

64 inch Robertson Vision Longbow, 66 lbs @ 27 inch draw, 620 grain tapered douglas fir arrows (Surewood Shafts), Grizzly ElGrande heads, weight augmented to 175 grains
