About Us
In 1953 the first breath was taken by a person whose dream of archery and the outdoors would someday inspire people all around the world. By age five, the torch was lit. With a bow made out of a Cottonwood branch, a string made of chalk line and square (unfletched) arrows, all made by his carpenter father, Richard (Dick) Robertson’s passion for archery would continue to manifest, eventually leading him along the path to becoming a master bowyer and prestigious traditional bowhunter. Following the pursuit of traditional bowhunting, backcountry exploration
and possessing a keen knack for wood working, Dick realized that in order to live out his dreams, he would need to create his own archery business. In the early 1970s Dick started the first archery shop ever in Montana. Then, in 1978 along with wife Vikki, Robertson Stykbow was born.
This is not a business, its a way of life.
While admiring a Robertson Stykbow, one not only recognizes the beauty of each bow but the workmanship behind each one as well. After shooting a Robertson Stykbow, a person may find it difficult to part ways. Every detail, every contour is his signature, his inspiration and imagination. This explains why each bow is different from the last, why he has become a successful bowyer, husband, father and friend. Time spent afield with
a Robertson Stykbow awakens the spirit in each of us, delicately passed from his hands to yours.
A true pioneer to modern-day traditional archery, Dick’s dream has come full-circle as a student and teacher, passing along his wisdom, insight and talent to his beloved children. Son Yote, famously known for his profound hunting and guiding skills has harnessed the same talents and achievements as his father, standing out amongst the best bowyers in the world (no small achievement by anyone’s standards). Much talent resides in every member of the Robertson family who Dick and Vikki can proudly call their own because to them, this is not a business, its a way of life.
Thank you from Robertson Stykbow!
